David Tai, OD

David Tai, OD

President and Director of Events

Dr. David Tai was born in Taiwan, raised in Hong Kong and studied in China until finishing medical school. He then graduated from SUNY College of Optometry and currently provides eye care in multiple locations in Queens. Fluent in English, Mandarin, Cantonese, and Taiwanese, he is dedicated to educating patients so they can better understand and care for their vision.

Dr. Tai sees patients everyday as an optometry doctor and also leads a few organizations on the side. He is the founder of Myopia Charity, Vision Light Eye Care, and NYGoddesses. He also serves as President of Taiwanese Jr. Chamber of Commerce NY, is on the Board of Directors for Young ODs of America among others.

In recognition of his lifelong commitment to service, Dr. Tai was honored with the United States President’s Lifetime Achievement Award. He remains dedicated to building a community that grows and thrives together. Welcome to learn more on his instagram @drdavidtai

Arthur Jung, OD

Dr. Arthur Jung is a New York City–based optometrist with a lifelong commitment to improving vision and expanding access to evidence-based myopia care. He earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from the SUNY College of Optometry in New York City and completed his residency at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, where he developed a strong foundation in complex patient care.
Dr. Jung is a partner at Metropolitan Vision, a New York City practice established in 1978, and in 2018 he co-founded Metropolitan Vision Downtown to broaden access to advanced myopia management and specialty contact lens services. He is a proud member of the American Optometric Association (AOA), American Academy of Optometry (AAO), and the American Academy of Orthokeratology and Myopia Control (AAOMC).
His clinical focus centers on delivering customized, patient-centered solutions, with specialties in myopia management, orthokeratology (Ortho-K), scleral lenses, glaucoma care, and dry eye disease, utilizing novel technologies such as intense pulsed light (IPL) and radiofrequency (RF) therapies.
Dr. Jung’s passion for myopia management—particularly orthokeratology—is deeply personal. As a high myope since childhood, he experienced firsthand how progressive myopia can impact confidence, performance, and quality of life. This experience continues to shape his mission to help children and families access proactive, modern vision care that can alter the long-term trajectory of eye health.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Jung is deeply committed to education and mentorship. He works with the SUNY College of Optometry as a mentor to optometry students and participates in the CSTEP program, encouraging college students to pursue careers in science and healthcare.
Dr. Jung has also served as a consultant for Johnson & Johnson Vision, supporting the nationwide launch of their orthokeratology lens through educational seminars, hands-on wet labs, and both virtual and in-person practice consultations in myopia management and the fitting of Acuvue Abiliti Overnight lenses.
His newfound area of passion is supporting The Myopia Charity, driven by a growing urgency to expand education for doctors, patients, and the public. His goal is to help bridge the knowledge and access gap surrounding myopia management and to ensure that effective myopia care is affordable and accessible to all patients, regardless of socioeconomic background.

Dr. Jung resides in Manhattan with his wife and two children—both of whom wear orthokeratology lenses. Outside of the clinic, he enjoys snowboarding, golfing, climbing, hiking, and traveling the world and exploring new foods with his family.

Deborah Wang, OD

Originally from Oregon, Dr. Deborah Wang moved to New York City to pursue her optometry degree at the SUNY College of Optometry. After graduating, she began her career at an ophthalmology practice in Brooklyn, NY, where she served as the first hired doctor and helped to establish and grow the practice.

In 2024, Dr. Wang transitioned from clinical care to academia, becoming the Director of Career Development and CSTEP Project Director at the SUNY College of Optometry. Through her involvement with CSTEP, she also serves as the Social Media Committee Co-Chair for the Association for Program Administrators of CSTEP and STEP (APACS).

Dr. Wang is deeply engaged in professional service and leadership. She currently serves as Secretary and Past President of the Optometric Society of the City of New York (OSCONY). Within the New York State Optometric Association (NYSOA), she holds multiple leadership roles, including Co-Chair of the Young Advocates Committee for the NYC/LI region, Manager of the CE Pass Program, Metropolitan Regional Trustee, and active member of both the Brand, Communications & Outreach Committee and the Annual Innovation Vision Conference Planning Team. Additionally, she is an American Optometric Association (AOA) Federal Keyperson, representing the NYSOA in legislative advocacy, and was named the 2025 Young Optometrist of the Year by the NYSOA.

Outside of her professional roles, Dr. Wang enjoys volunteering for Korean K9 Rescue, gaming, and exploring New York City’s vibrant food scene. She has also been a proud member of the NYC Yelp Elite community for the past nine years.

Hanish Patel, OD, FAAO

Dr. Hanish Patel, OD, FAAO is a graduate of Aston University in Birmingham, UK, and the SUNY College of Optometry in New York City. He completed his residency in Ocular Disease at the SUNY College of Optometry and Woodhull Medical and Mental Health Center, where he received advanced clinical training in primary eye care, specialty contact lenses, refractive surgery co-management, glaucoma management, and retinal disease alongside leading optometrists and ophthalmologists.
Dr. Patel is a founding partner of Eye Associates of New York and the Center for Ophthalmic and Vision Research, both based in Manhattan. His clinical expertise encompasses the use of advanced contact lens technologies, including orthokeratology, scleral, and gas-permeable lenses, in the comprehensive management of keratoconus, ocular surface disease, post-surgical corneal conditions, and severe dry eye.
Renowned for his work in ocular surface health, Dr. Patel is highly trained in the diagnosis and treatment of dry eye disease. His practice integrates cutting-edge therapies such as radiofrequency (RF), intense pulsed light (IPL), and amniotic membrane technology as part of individualized patient care.
As principal investigator at the Center for Ophthalmic and Vision Research, Dr. Patel has led or participated in over 100 clinical trials spanning pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and contact lens innovations. His extensive research experience has positioned him as a Key Opinion Leader (KOL) for several industry partners, frequently consulting on product development and clinical strategy.
A sought-after international lecturer, Dr. Patel has presented around the world on topics including orthokeratology, dry eye management, and ocular aesthetics. He is an active member of multiple professional organizations, serving as Chair of the New Technologies Committee for the New York State Optometric Association (NYSOA), a member of the American Academy of Orthokeratology and Myopia Control (AAOMC), and a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry (AAO).

Dr. Milly M. Mui (pronounced Moo-ee)
Dr. Milly M. Mui is a native New Yorker who grew up in Queens, New York. She
graduated from Stuyvesant High School and did her undergrad at NYU. She was a
certified ophthalmic assistant for 10 years before applying to optometry school. Dr. Mui
graduated from the New England College of Optometry at the age of 36. After
graduation, she worked in Massachusetts for 2 years and moved back to NYC in late
2012. In April 2013, she opened her own practice, Mui Eye Care Optometry, located in
Manhattan’s Chinatown. She specializes in primary eye care including myopia control,
dry eyes, glaucoma, low vision, and specialty contact lenses.
Dr. Mui has served on the Optometric Society of the City of New York as Director-at-
large for the past 7 years. She is now serving as NYSOA Regional Trustee for
Metropolitan New York. She also serves on the NYSOA Third Party Committee
advocating 3 rd party reimbursements, as well as the Health Equity and Inclusive
Excellence Committee to promote health equity in underrepresented in optometry. She
lobbied for oral prescribing privileges for 7 years in Albany, NY and continues to be
active in advocating for the expansion of the scope of optometry.
Dr. Mui speaks fluent Cantonese, Toishanese, and Mandarin Chinese.

Justin Kwan, OD

Dr. Justin Kwan is a 2009 graduate of Berkeley Optometry and went on to do a contact lens and dry eye residency at Southern California College of Optometry. He taught and saw patients there for eight years, serving as chief of the contact lens, dry eye, and refractive surgery service. In 2018, he moved with his wife, son and daughter to Chicago, joining a private practice.

In 2020, Dr. Kwan joined CooperVision to lead Myopia Management. He has given over 100 hours of continuing education. Dr. Kwan is the current president of the Chicago North Side Optometric Society, past Editor in Chief of Clinical & Refractive Optometry, past chair of the Fellows Doing Research SIG of the Academy, and a member of the Intrepid Eye Society.

Jennifer Tsai, OD

Dr. Jennifer Tsai is a board-certified optometrist, medical advisor, clinical researcher, and recognized leader in myopia management and vision care. She is the founder of LINE OF SIGHT, a concierge eyecare clinic in New York City specializing in advanced myopia control, dry eye disease, and ocular aesthetics. She is also the creator of Eyegenic, a skincare line focused on maintaining clean, healthy eyelids and long-term eye wellness.

As a specialist in the prevention and progression control of childhood myopia, Dr. Tsai works at the intersection of clinical innovation and early intervention—designing non-surgical, evidence-based programs to preserve lifelong vision. She regularly advises leading healthcare companies, including Bausch + Lomb, InMode, Alcon, and Biotissue, on clinical strategy and next-generation vision technologies.

Dr. Tsai is a frequent speaker on myopia, dry eye therapy, and preventive vision care, and her expertise has been featured on national platforms such as ABC, Vogue, and Good Morning America. Through her social channels under @drjenandjuice, she educates a global community of over 500,000 followers on childhood myopia, digital eye strain, and proactive eye health.

Her contributions to vision science and entrepreneurship have been recognized by Forbes Next 1000, JP Morgan Chase’s Small Business Award, and the INC 5000 Entrepreneurs list.
